One eSIM can cover France and Switzerland, but the package needs to name both countries. The useful question is how much you pay for data you can use on either side of the border—and whether a cheaper offer quietly leaves Switzerland out.

Quick Verdict: One Regional Plan Usually Makes More Sense
For a two-week France–Switzerland trip using 10GB or 20GB, I’d start with MobiMatter’s Sparks Europe Special packages. They cost US$10.49 and US$18.49, respectively, with 30 days to use one balance across both countries.
- Prefer Ubigi’s reusable profile? Its Europe 10GB / 30-day plan costs US$15; 25GB costs US$29.
- Need a phone number as well? Sim Local sells Orange Holiday Zen 20GB / 31 days for US$22.50, with calls and texts subject to the plan’s zones.
- Already have French data included at home? Compare a Switzerland-only purchase before buying coverage for the whole route.
The recommendations use published plans and conditions, rather than on-the-ground speed measurements. The tables below cover seven sellers and keep fixed data, unlimited-labelled plans and local packages separate.

Your trip
Days and data cover the whole trip.
France and Switzerland: Check the Package, Not Just “Europe”
Our starting route is seven days in France followed by seven in Switzerland, using either 10GB or 20GB in total. Those are trip-wide allowances, including anything you share with a laptop. They are not daily quotas.
Switzerland is outside the EU/EEA roaming framework. Some home operators include it voluntarily, but having EU roaming does not establish Swiss coverage. The European Commission’s roaming explanation distinguishes the regulated area from countries an operator may add.
Here is a real example of why the country list matters: MobiMatter’s NextLink Europe 20GB package costs US$17.99 and explicitly excludes Switzerland. Sparks Europe Special 20GB costs US$18.49 and includes it. Saving fifty cents on the wrong package leaves the Swiss part of this trip uncovered.
If you are only visiting France, use our France eSIM guide. For a longer itinerary through several countries, the Europe eSIM comparison covers the wider choice.
What Does the Whole France–Switzerland Trip Cost?
Each purchase below covers both countries and at least the full 14-day scenario. A larger package stays a larger package: Ubigi supplies 25GB in the second column, and Orange supplies 20GB even in the lighter scenario.
Public package prices for seven days in each country
| Provider / exact product | At least 10GB for the route | At least 20GB for the route |
|---|---|---|
| MobiMatter · Sparks Europe Special | US$10.49 10GB / 30 days |
US$18.49 20GB / 30 days |
| Ubigi · Europe | US$15.00 10GB / 30 days |
US$29.00 25GB / 30 days |
| Sim Local · Orange Holiday Zen | US$22.50 20GB / 31 days |
US$22.50 20GB / 31 days |
| Sim Local · own-brand Europe | US$28.50 10GB / 30 days |
US$39.50 20GB / 30 days |
| Nomad eSIM · Europe 35-country plan | US$23.00 10GB / 30 days |
US$27.00 20GB / 30 days · sale; regular US$37.00 |
| Airalo · Eurolink | US$28.00 10GB / 15 days |
US$47.00 20GB / 15 days |
| Saily · Europe | US$35.99 10GB / 30 days |
US$71.98 Two 10GB / 30-day purchases |
The smaller bill does not require splitting the data between France and Switzerland. Sparks has the lowest listed 10GB and 20GB prices in this USD shortlist. If you would rather buy through a provider you already use, the next question is what the extra cost buys you: a familiar profile, more data or a calling number.
Saily can add data to an existing eSIM. The two-purchase budget assumes buying the second 10GB package only if needed at the listed price; it is not a merged 20GB allowance or a promise that a future top-up price will stay unchanged.
One Shared Balance or Two Local Packages?
Two local packages can be sensible, especially when one country is already covered by your home plan. Buying them does not always mean installing two eSIMs: Ubigi supports country-specific packages on the same profile and switches the applicable plan as you travel.
Complete local-package baskets for the same route
| Local option | Actual purchases | Total price (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| Nomad eSIM · two local 5GB plans | France 5GB / 30 days: US$9.00 Switzerland 5GB / 30 days: US$12.50 | US$21.50 5GB restricted to each country |
| Ubigi · two local 10GB plans | France 10GB / 30 days: US$10.00 Switzerland 10GB / 7 days: US$10.00 | US$20.00 10GB restricted to each country |
| Ubigi · more time for the Swiss leg | France 10GB / 30 days: US$10.00 Switzerland 10GB / 30 days: US$12.00 | US$22.00 10GB restricted to each country |
Against the US$21.50 local 5GB + 5GB basket, a shared Sparks 10GB package saves US$11.01. Its 20GB package is US$1.51 less than the US$20 local 10GB + 10GB basket. On these prices, I would not split the purchase merely because there are two countries.
The allowance split matters too. If you use 12GB in France and 8GB in Switzerland, one shared 20GB package fits. Two local 10GB packages leave you 2GB short in France, even while 2GB remains unused in Switzerland. With a shared 10GB package, 7GB in France and 3GB in Switzerland works in the same way.
Watch the last Swiss day. A seven-day plan is tight if your arrival and departure times span more than seven 24-hour periods. Ubigi’s 30-day Swiss 10GB option adds US$2 to the basket and removes that particular timing problem.
If you are unsure which allowance fits your habits, use our travel data guide before paying for extra GB.
Unlimited Phone Data Does Not Mean Unlimited Hotspot
A fixed allowance is easier to compare when you expect to use 10GB or 20GB. For heavier use, compare what happens after the high-speed allowance and how much data you can share.
Two different unlimited-labelled options covering the two-week route
| Product / full purchase | High-speed and reduced-speed terms | Hotspot |
|---|---|---|
| Ubigi Europe · 15 days US$35.00 | 30GB at full speed in total, then up to 2 Mbps for the rest of the plan | Allowed; draws from the plan |
| Holafly Europe · 14 days US$48.90 | Fair use can temporarily reduce speed; no fixed full-speed quota stated on the Europe page | 1GB per day |
For occasional laptop work, Ubigi’s stated sharing policy and quantified threshold are useful. Holafly’s phone-data format can suit a different pattern, but a 1GB daily hotspot allowance is a real limit if your laptop is the main reason you need mobile data.
Seven France and Switzerland eSIM Options Compared
France + Switzerland · Sparks Europe Special fixed-data plans
MobiMatter: My Starting Choice for a 10GB or 20GB Budget
Sparks Europe Special keeps the bill low without dividing the trip’s data by country. The 30-day allowance gives the two-week route room for a small change of dates.
- Networks
- France: Bouygues Telecom, Orange and Free; Switzerland: Sunrise and Salt. 5G listed where available.
- Hotspot
- Allowed; shared devices use the same allowance.
- Activation
- First data use; activate within two months of purchase.
- Calls and SMS
- Data only; no phone number.
Sparks Europe Special: one regional balance
| Data | Validity | Price (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| 5GB | 30 days | US$6.49 |
| 10GB | 30 days | US$10.49 |
| 20GB | 30 days | US$18.49 |
Choose the exact Sparks Europe Special product. MobiMatter is a marketplace, and another seller’s similarly named Europe package can have different countries. The NextLink 20GB exclusion is a useful reminder to check the product rather than the store’s regional label.
The listed networks give you documented options, not a guarantee of a connection in every valley or tunnel.
Choose MobiMatter if…
You want a shared 10GB or 20GB allowance at the lowest listed prices in this USD shortlist.
Consider another option if…
You need an ordinary calling number or want to keep purchases inside a provider app you already use.
France + Switzerland · Europe one-off plans; fixed data and a separately labelled unlimited option
Ubigi: Useful for a Reusable Profile and Local-Plan Flexibility
Ubigi is a practical alternative when you value managing regional and local packages on one profile. Its Europe 10GB plan costs more than Sparks, while the 25GB option gives a little more room than an exact 20GB package.
- Networks
- Europe plans list Bouygues Telecom, Free Mobile, Orange and SFR in France; Salt and Sunrise in Switzerland.
- Hotspot
- Allowed. Fixed-data sharing uses the purchased GB.
- Activation
- SmartStart begins in a covered destination. An unused plan expires if not activated within six months.
- Calls and SMS
- Data-only service; use internet calling apps.
Ubigi Europe one-off fixed-data plans
| Data / validity | Price (USD) | With 10% offCurrent price |
|---|---|---|
| 3GB / 30 days | US$7.00 | US$6.30US$7.00 |
| 10GB / 30 days | US$15.00 | US$13.50US$15.00 |
| 25GB / 30 days | US$29.00 | US$26.10US$29.00 |
Ubigi Europe: a separate higher-use option
| Data / validity | Price (USD) | With 10% offCurrent price |
|---|---|---|
| Unlimited-labelled / 15 days | US$35.00 | US$31.50US$35.00 |
Keep regional and local purchases distinct. A Europe balance follows you across the border; a France package and a Switzerland package can sit on the same eSIM, but their GB remain tied to their countries.
The one-off unlimited-labelled plan has a different allowance model: 30GB at full speed across the plan, then up to 2 Mbps. Its threshold is not a fresh 30GB every day. Monthly subscriptions are outside this comparison.
Choose Ubigi if…
You want the option of regional coverage now and country-specific recharges on a familiar profile later.
Consider another option if…
The main goal is the smallest 10GB or 20GB purchase price, or you need included cellular calls.
Enter MYTECHGUIDE for 10% off your first Ubigi purchase. Valid for all destinations on one-off and annual data plans only. Monthly subscriptions are excluded.
France + Switzerland · Own-brand fixed data; Orange Holiday Zen shown as a separate family
Sim Local: Orange Holiday Zen Is the One to Notice
Orange Holiday Zen adds a phone number to a shared 20GB package for US$22.50. That is a different proposition from Sim Local’s more expensive own-brand data-only Europe plans.
- Coverage
- Both product families list France and Switzerland. The own-brand plans advertise 5G; Orange Holiday Zen advertises 4G.
- Hotspot
- Allowed on the selected own-brand and Orange products.
- Own-brand activation
- First connection in a covered destination, or automatically after 60 days if unused.
- Own-brand calls
- Data only. Orange’s included number and call/text allowances are described separately below.

| 10GB / 30 days | US$28.50 | US$25.65US$28.50 |
| 20GB / 30 days | US$39.50 | US$35.55US$39.50 |
A different product: Orange Holiday Zen
| Data / validity | Price (USD) | With 10% offCurrent price |
|---|---|---|
| Orange Holiday Zen 20GB / 31 days | US$22.50 | US$20.25US$22.50 |
Orange Holiday Zen starts on connection to a supported network. Its listing includes a local number, unlimited EU minutes/texts, 30 international minutes and 200 international SMS. Do not read “EU minutes” as an unrestricted promise for every Swiss call; the applicable call zones still matter.
For Orange top-ups, the seller says to register with Orange within 30 days. Its page names Orange rather than establishing a specific Swiss roaming partner, so there is no basis here to promise Swisscom access.
Choose Sim Local if…
A phone number and conventional calls are useful enough to justify paying more than for Sparks data alone.
Consider another option if…
You only need data, or you are choosing the Orange product on the assumption that it is a 5G package.

France + Switzerland · Europe 35-country fixed-data plans
Nomad eSIM: A Straightforward Shared Allowance, with Sale Rules
The Europe 20GB sale plan is a reasonable alternative if you prefer Nomad eSIM’s plan management. Its US$27 price is public; it is not a reader-code calculation.
- 35-country networks
- France: SFR. Switzerland: Salt and Sunrise. 5G is listed where available.
- Hotspot
- Supported; the fixed allowance includes shared data.
- Activation
- Connection to a supported network, or automatic activation after 60 days.
- Service
- The selected fixed-data products are data only.
Nomad eSIM Europe 35-country fixed-data plans
| Data / validity | Price (USD) | With 15% offCurrent price |
|---|---|---|
| 3GB / 30 days | US$12.00 | US$10.20US$12.00 |

| 50GB / 30 days · sale; regular US$48 | US$35.00 | Sale; reader code excluded |
These prices use the 35-country product family. Nomad also sells a 36-country family: its 10GB option lists Orange and Free Mobile in France and Salt in Switzerland. Do not mix one variant’s networks with another variant’s price.
For this route, the reason to choose Nomad is its specific package and workflow. The sale does not establish the lowest market price, and it cannot be combined with the reader code. Eligible add-ons stay attached to the eSIM; the original expiry does not restart simply because you cross the border.
Choose Nomad eSIM if…
You prefer Nomad eSIM and the selected plan’s networks and current sale suit your route.
Consider another option if…
You are choosing solely on the 10GB or 20GB public price, or expect the reader code to stack with a sale.
Use our link and enter MYTECHGUIDE15 on your first eligible purchase for 15% off. One use only. Excludes plans below US$5, sale plans, add-ons, unlimited plans and Thailand 50GB. Cannot be combined with the free trial.
France + Switzerland · Eurolink fixed-data plans
Airalo: The 15-Day Option Fits This Route Better Than a 7-Day Plan
Eurolink gives you a shared allowance for France and Switzerland. For an exact two-week trip, the 15-day 10GB and 20GB packages cost less than Airalo’s corresponding 30-day purchases.
- Coverage
- France and Switzerland appear in the selected Eurolink country list. Check the package’s network details if a particular carrier is essential.
- Hotspot
- Supported where the device and network allow it; follow the supplied APN instructions.
- Activation
- First use in the covered area; the selected product data gives a 365-day activation window.
- Service
- The selected Eurolink packages are data only and rechargeable.
Airalo Eurolink: choose validity as well as data
| Data / validity | Price (USD) | With 15% offCurrent price |
|---|---|---|
| 5GB / 15 days | US$19.00 | US$16.15US$19.00 |
| 10GB / 15 days | US$28.00 | US$23.80US$28.00 |
| 20GB / 15 days | US$47.00 | US$39.95US$47.00 |
| 10GB / 30 days | US$31.00 | US$26.35US$31.00 |
| 20GB / 30 days | US$48.00 | US$40.80US$48.00 |
The extra day is useful, but count your travel dates. Fourteen nights can mean data use on fifteen calendar dates. A seven-day Eurolink package cannot cover the entire route just because each country visit is a week.
Airalo’s hotspot guidance explains when a separate hotspot APN is needed. There is no supported reason here to pay the higher base price on the assumption that Airalo will always have better radio coverage.
Choose Airalo if…
You want to keep the purchase in Airalo and can match a 15- or 30-day Eurolink plan to the exact dates.
Consider another option if…
Your main requirement is the lowest public cost for a shared 10GB or 20GB allowance.
Use NEWTOAIRALO15 for 15% off your first Airalo eSIM purchase. Valid through December 31, 2026.
France + Switzerland · Europe standard fixed-data packages
Saily: Convenient If You Already Use the App, at a Higher Base Cost
Saily covers the route with one regional data plan and allows recharges on the existing eSIM. Its familiar setup may be useful to an existing user, but its base 10GB price is substantially higher than the budget options here.
- Coverage
- France and Switzerland are included in Europe’s published country list. The regional page does not name a specific local carrier.
- Hotspot
- Supported; a fixed-data plan has one total allowance for the validity period.
- Activation
- On arrival in a covered destination, or automatically 180 days after purchase.
- Service
- These are data packages; do not assume a French or Swiss calling number is included.
Saily Europe fixed-data packages
| Data / validity | Price (USD) | With 10% offCurrent price |
|---|---|---|
| 3GB / 30 days | US$12.49 | US$11.24US$12.49 |
| 5GB / 30 days | US$19.49 | US$17.54US$19.49 |

| 50GB / 90 days | US$95.99 | US$86.39US$95.99 |
Saily’s top-up instructions let you buy another package for the existing profile. Two 10GB purchases total US$71.98 at the listed rate, which is less than its 50GB option but still a much higher 20GB budget than the cheaper regional plans.
Keep manual purchases and automatic top-ups separate. Saily says an automatic top-up uses the full price even when the original purchase used a code or credits; the discounted rows above describe individual eligible package purchases.
Choose Saily if…
You already use Saily and value keeping the route and future purchases in the same app.
Consider another option if…
Cross-border coverage is the only extra feature you need; cheaper plans already cover both stops.

France + Switzerland · Europe day-based travel eSIM; not Holafly Plans
Holafly: A Phone-Data Option with a Separate Daily Sharing Limit
Holafly’s Europe travel eSIM gives unlimited-labelled phone data for a chosen number of days. The sharing allowance is much narrower: 1GB each day, which matters if your laptop will use much of the connection.
- Coverage
- The Europe listing includes France and Switzerland. Network availability and speed vary by location.
- Hotspot
- 1GB per day; this is separate from the unlimited-labelled phone-data description.
- Activation
- Connection to a supported network. The page describes validity in full 24-hour periods.
- Calls and SMS
- Data only; no local number for ordinary cellular calls.
Holafly Europe travel eSIM durations
| Data / validity | Price (USD) | With 5% offCurrent price |
|---|---|---|
| 7 days · shorter trip | US$27.50 | US$26.13US$27.50 |
| 14 days | US$48.90 | US$46.46US$48.90 |
| 15 days | US$51.50 | US$48.93US$51.50 |
| 30 days | US$76.50 | US$72.68US$76.50 |
Fair use can temporarily reduce phone-data speed. The Europe page does not give a fixed numerical threshold that can be treated as guaranteed full-speed data, so I would not size a working day around an assumed daily GB figure.
Residence matters here. Holafly’s Europe FAQ excludes domestic use, including the entire EU region for EU-based residents. An EU resident should resolve that restriction before choosing this product for the French leg.
Choose Holafly if…
You are eligible for the travel product, want day-based phone data, and the daily hotspot cap fits your use.
Consider another option if…
You need sustained laptop sharing, a clearly quantified full-speed allowance, or the domestic-use restriction applies.
Use our link for 5% off any Holafly travel eSIM, applied automatically. If needed, enter MYTECHGUIDE at checkout. You can use the code again on future travel eSIM purchases.
When a Local Operator Is Worth Considering
Swisscom Prepaid Flat 7 is a useful benchmark for the Swiss week: CHF20 for seven days, with unlimited Swiss data advertised at a maximum download speed of 50 Mbit/s, domestic calls and a Swisscom number. It starts when the eSIM connects to the Swisscom network and is used. It does not replace a France plan.
Two country-specific benchmarks, in their advertised currencies
| Country / product | What the purchase covers | Advertised price |
|---|---|---|
| France · Ubigi 10GB | 10GB / 30 days; data only | US$10.00 |
| Switzerland · Swisscom Prepaid Flat 7 | 7 days; unlimited Swiss data at up to 50 Mbit/s, domestic calling and a Swisscom number | CHF20.00 |
That combination costs US$10 plus CHF20, not “US$30.” I’d consider it when the Swiss number or Swisscom service itself solves a specific need. For ordinary 10GB or 20GB sightseeing data, the regional options are simpler to compare and do not need a second domestic calling service.
No plan can promise reception on every Alpine trail, cable car or train tunnel. Keep your route, tickets and accommodation details available offline; choose a documented network requirement when you have one rather than buying an unsupported promise of mountain coverage.
Set Up Once, Then Let the Covered Network Change
- Check the exact phone model and carrier lock. The eSIM compatibility checklist covers the model, region and unlocking questions.
- Install while you have reliable internet. Keep the travel line off until you want it to connect if you are already inside its coverage area. Installation and the start of paid validity are separate events for the selected products.
- Select the travel eSIM for mobile data. Enable data roaming on that line as instructed. Keep your home line from taking over mobile data automatically, and check its own call/text roaming charges separately.
- At the France–Switzerland border, keep the regional profile selected. A short reconnection does not require a new purchase. If data does not return, check that Switzerland is covered, then try airplane mode and the provider’s network/APN instructions.
- Check the remaining GB and the expiry time. Crossing the border does not reset a regional plan’s clock. With separate Ubigi country packages, each package follows its own activation and expiry rules.
A regional package can start before France if you first use it in another included country. Count that connection as part of the plan’s life. For platform-specific instructions, use our eSIM setup and troubleshooting guides.
Final Verdict: Buy the Whole Route, Keep the GB Flexible
For the 10GB or 20GB two-country trip compared here, Sparks Europe Special is my starting choice. It costs less than the displayed local baskets and leaves the balance available wherever you need it. Select Sparks specifically; the cheaper NextLink Europe product is missing Switzerland.
Choose Ubigi when its reusable profile and plan management are worth the extra cost. Choose Sim Local’s Orange Holiday Zen when its included number and call allowances are useful. For higher use, compare Ubigi’s quantified unlimited-plan threshold with Holafly’s phone-data format and daily hotspot cap.
I’d change the purchase if France were already covered by a home subscription, or if a particular Swiss number or network were essential. Start from what the trip is missing, then buy enough data to fill that gap. Our destination eSIM guides cover changes to the wider route.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a 14-day eSIM enough for 14 nights?
Count the first and last time you need mobile data, rather than the hotel nights. Fourteen nights can include parts of fifteen days. A 15- or 30-day option provides more room; Holafly describes its days as full 24-hour periods from activation.
What if I return to France after visiting Switzerland?
A regional balance remains usable in an included country while its data and validity remain. A country-specific France package can also still work on your return if it has data and time left. Neither gets a fresh validity period simply because you leave and come back.
Can one purchased eSIM cover two people?
One installed eSIM supplies the device it is installed on. A second person can use an allowed hotspot while nearby, but that shares the same connection and any relevant hotspot limit. Separate plans make more sense when you will spend time apart.
Should I buy a regional package if my home plan already covers France?
Compare only the extra coverage you need. In the inspected Ubigi options, 10GB for seven days in Switzerland costs US$10. A Switzerland-only purchase can be sufficient if your home allowance covers the French part and the Swiss package fits your dates and data use.
