Best eSIM for Southeast Asia (2026): Top Providers & Plans

The best eSIM for Southeast Asia is the one that covers your actual stops, with enough data for the whole trip. A plan called “Asia” can include Laos but leave out Singapore; another can cover Thailand and Vietnam but miss the Philippines. Those gaps matter more than an attractive price per gigabyte.

This guide compares seven providers for multi-country travel, from a Singapore–Malaysia–Thailand trip to a wider route through Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Best eSIM for Southeast Asia: Quick Verdict

  • Airalo is our best overall starting point for a broad route. Asialink covers all eight countries above, with 20GB for 30 days at US$39.00. You pay less if a narrower plan already covers your itinerary.
  • Ubigi is our pick for heavy use across all eight. Best Asia Unlimited costs US$66.00 for 30 days, with 60GB at full speed, then 2 Mbps, and hotspot sharing allowed.
  • Saily suits travelers who want security tools and longer validity. Its 25GB Asia and Oceania package costs US$48.99 for 60 days and includes all eight countries.
  • Nomad eSIM is the value pick for Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Its dedicated three-country plan gives you 10GB for US$15.00 or 20GB for US$22.00, both valid for 30 days.

How We Compared These Plans

We compared official package prices, country lists, activation rules, high-speed allowances and hotspot terms on October 14, 2026. The main price example is a 14-day Singapore–Malaysia–Thailand trip needing 10GB in total. A separate comparison covers travelers who need at least 20GB and all eight countries in our wider shortlist.

Prices are advertised in USD before reader discounts. The allowance is shared across the trip, not renewed in each country. Our recommendations assess published plans and terms; they are not results of on-the-ground speed tests. Payment-currency conversion and any location-specific checkout tax can change the final amount.

Which Southeast Asian Countries Does Each Plan Cover?

Our eight-country checklist is Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. It is a travel shortlist, not a definition of the entire region. If you are also visiting Brunei, Myanmar or Timor-Leste, check that destination separately in the exact package.

Country lists checked October 14, 2026. Coverage means the country is included; it does not guarantee reception at every location.

The Nomad APAC distinction is easy to miss. The 21-destination variant includes Cambodia and Laos, but its current list does not include Singapore. Buying the version with the larger country count would therefore break a route that includes Singapore. The 14-destination version covers Singapore but excludes Cambodia and Laos.

aloSIM now lists Cambodia in its Asia package. Laos remains outside that product. For Holafly, the exclusion to watch is the Philippines, even though its Southeast Asia plan covers Cambodia and Laos.

Southeast Asia eSIM Plans and Prices

Need All Eight Countries and at Least 20GB?

These three fixed packages cover the complete eight-country shortlist and at least 30 days. The others above have a coverage gap for that full list, so they are not substitutes unless you add another package.

Prices checked October 14, 2026. The purchased 25GB packages are shown as 25GB; prices have not been scaled down to 20GB.

Airalo has the lowest package price here. Ubigi adds 5GB for US$5.00 more; Saily adds that extra data plus 60-day validity. Pick those benefits only when they help your trip.

Unlimited Alternatives for the Same Two-Week Trip

Holafly sells unlimited rather than fixed-data packages. These selected 15-day alternatives all cover Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, but their high-speed and sharing rules differ.

Prices checked October 14, 2026. Daily allowances cannot be pooled across days. The aloSIM speed discrepancy is explained in its provider section.

For irregular heavy days, Ubigi’s pooled 30GB allowance can be more useful than a daily cap. For occasional browsing on a laptop, a fixed-data package may still be the cheaper purchase.

Match validity to your route. The 15-day 10GB package saves only US$1.00 against 30 days. The longer option is sensible if your arrival date may change or your trip could run over.

Asialink also offers 15-day unlimited data for US$49.00 and 30 days for US$73.50. Those plans provide 3GB of high-speed data each day, then 1 Mbps. They are a separate choice from the fixed balances above. Airalo’s unlimited-data policy permits personal hotspot use while retaining reasonable-use restrictions.

Choose Airalo if…

you want one fixed balance for a route including Cambodia, Laos and the Philippines.

Consider another option if…

your entire route is Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, where Nomad eSIM’s dedicated package is cheaper.

The full-speed allowance is pooled for the package. The 30-day option is useful when one day needs a large upload and the next needs only maps. Hotspot traffic uses the same allowance.

Best Asia lists Metfone in Cambodia and ETL in Laos. Smartstart begins validity when you reach a covered destination; an unused preloaded plan expires if not activated within six months. The Ubigi profile can be reused and topped up.

you need hotspot access and expect large downloads or uploads on a few days.

3. Saily: Best for Built-In Security Tools

Saily combines broad regional coverage with useful app features. The Asia and Oceania package includes all eight shortlist countries; 25GB over 60 days makes more sense for extended travel than its relatively expensive 10GB option.

The 25GB package is the more compelling choice for a longer trip. It costs US$13.00 more than 10GB and lasts twice as long. The ad blocker, web protection and virtual-location features add convenience, but do not establish better mobile reception.

Saily offers 24/7 chat and in-app top-ups. Plans start in the first supported destination, or automatically after the 180-day activation window. These listed prices buy data; calling and SMS require a separate Saily phone-number service.

the lowest upfront cost matters more than those features.

For Southeast Asia plus East Asia, compare Nomad APAC. Select the 14- or 21-destination variant deliberately. For a covered route continuing to Australia or New Zealand, Nomad SEA-Oceania is another option; its current 20GB sale price is lower than APAC 14.

For work and longer trips: the fixed packages support hotspot, with shared traffic deducted from the same balance. Available add-ons attach to the existing eSIM, so you can manage data in the app without automatically needing another profile. Install ahead of travel; the package normally starts on a supported network, and unused plans automatically start after 60 days. Follow any plan-specific manual-start instruction.

Choose Nomad eSIM if…

your whole itinerary matches one regional product and you want a shared fixed-data balance.

you assume APAC 14 and APAC 21 cover the same stops, or need a single listed package covering all eight countries.

The sale changes which package makes sense. The current 30GB option is US$10.01 cheaper than 20GB while providing more data for the same period. If those prices remain available, there is little reason to buy the smaller package.

Jetpac also lists unlimited data for 30 days at US$65.99 on sale, with 3GB at standard speed per 24-hour cycle, then up to 1 Mbps. Hotspot is supported; tethered traffic still uses that allowance. Unactivated purchases remain available for three months. The base package is data only; optional voice packs use Jetpac’s in-app calling feature.

Choose Jetpac if…

you need 15GB–40GB across its covered countries and a public sale lowers the full trip cost.

Consider another option if…

Laos is on the itinerary or you would need to buy an additional package that removes the saving.

Phone data and hotspot are separate limits. A 15-day purchase does not give you a flexible 15GB hotspot balance to spend on one day: sharing is capped at 1GB each day. That is restrictive for laptop meetings, large backups or several people sharing one connection.

The product does not state a fixed numerical full-speed threshold. Local operators can temporarily reduce speed under fair use. Choose Holafly for phone-heavy use on its covered route, rather than as your main connection for intensive laptop work.

Choose Holafly if…

you will use most data directly on your phone and 1GB of daily sharing is enough.

Consider another option if…

you need the Philippines, frequent laptop video calls or a clearly stated full-speed data allowance.

Unlimited speed needs clarification. The Asia product page says speeds reduce to 1 Mbps after 3GB in a day, while the general terms, section 5, state 512 Kbps. We therefore do not treat either reduced speed as assured. The terms also restrict sustained heavy tethering. Our recommendation here is primarily for the fixed-data packages.

Which Southeast Asia eSIM Should You Choose?

Regional eSIM or Separate Country Plans?

A regional package earns its keep when you cross several borders. One remaining balance follows you between included countries. If a 10GB trip uses 7GB in Thailand and 3GB in Malaysia, the shared balance accommodates that split; two local 5GB packages do not.

For one country or a long stay in one place, compare a country-specific plan. For an uncovered stop, compare the full price of a regional package plus the extra local purchase. A US$7.00 saving on the main package is not a saving if the missing country costs US$10.00 to add.

  • Singapore → Malaysia → Thailand: start with Nomad eSIM SG–MY–TH and the 10GB comparison above.
  • Thailand → Laos → Cambodia → Vietnam: Airalo, Ubigi and Saily cover the route. Nomad APAC 21 is also relevant; its Singapore exclusion matters only if Singapore becomes another stop.
  • Bali → Singapore → the Philippines: fixed regional options from Airalo, Ubigi, Saily, Nomad APAC 14, Jetpac and aloSIM are relevant. The Holafly Southeast Asia product does not cover the Philippine stop.
  • Southeast Asia → Australia or New Zealand: compare the exact Nomad SEA-Oceania and APAC variants, or Saily Asia and Oceania, against your full route.

Compare Plans for Your Main Destination

Use our country guides for Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos when a mainland stop needs a separate plan. For other routes, see Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Bali, and the Philippines.

Browse all our eSIM guides by destination, or compare eSIMs for international travel if this journey extends beyond Asia and Oceania.

Setup, Hotspot, Data Use and Border Crossings

How Much Data Do You Need?

For a two-week trip with hotel Wi-Fi, 5GB–10GB is a practical starting budget for maps, Grab, messaging, browsing and occasional uploads. Treat it as a planning estimate: video, cloud backup and laptop work can change the requirement quickly.

Check your phone’s recent usage, add the data you expect to share, then leave some headroom. For example, 0.5GB per day for 14 days is 7GB; a 25% buffer brings that estimate to 8.75GB, making a 10GB package a reasonable purchase. See our travel data guide for a more detailed estimate.

Install Before Departure, Then Follow the Activation Rule

  1. Check the exact phone model and carrier lock. Use our eSIM compatibility guide; regional versions of a phone can differ.
  2. Install on stable Wi-Fi. Save the provider’s installation and APN instructions somewhere you can open offline.
  3. Label the lines clearly. Select the travel eSIM for mobile data and disable automatic switching to your home SIM.
  4. Set roaming according to that eSIM’s instructions. Travel eSIMs often require it; your home line should have data roaming off.
  5. Watch the first covered country. A supported-country stopover can start a network-activated regional package before you reach your main destination.

What Happens When You Cross a Border?

An active regional plan normally connects to a supported partner in the next included country. Your remaining data and expiry time continue; they do not reset. A new border does not turn a 30-day package into another 30 days.

If it does not connect, confirm the new country is covered, check your selected data line and roaming setting, then toggle airplane mode. Follow the provider’s manual network and APN instructions if needed. Avoid deleting the eSIM while troubleshooting: reinstalling can require support or another connection.

Can You Use It for Remote Work or Share With Someone Else?

For a laptop, compare both the high-speed allowance and the hotspot policy. Ubigi’s pooled allowance is useful for uneven daily demand; Holafly’s 1GB/day sharing cap is restrictive for meetings. Daily unlimited allowances from Airalo and Jetpac also count tethered usage, even though hotspot itself is permitted.

One phone’s hotspot is a shared connection, not a separate eSIM for every traveler. Everyone depends on that phone’s battery, proximity and remaining data. Separate plans are more practical if your group will split up.

Calls, Messages and Your Usual Number

Most packages compared here buy mobile data. WhatsApp and similar services can keep using your existing account, while ordinary calls and SMS still depend on a suitable voice service. Keeping a home SIM active may incur charges for calls or outgoing texts under your home tariff; turning off data roaming only controls data.

A regional travel eSIM also does not guarantee reception on ferries, remote islands or mountain roads. Download maps and essential booking details before leaving reliable coverage.

Final Verdict: What Is the Best eSIM for Southeast Asia?

Airalo remains our best overall starting point for a broad Southeast Asia route. Its 20GB / 30-day Asialink package costs US$39.00 and covers every country in our eight-stop checklist. Ubigi is the better fit for heavy use and hotspot sharing; Saily is worth considering for security features and longer validity.

For Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, choose Nomad eSIM’s dedicated plan when value is the priority: 10GB costs US$15.00 and 20GB costs US$22.00, both for 30 days. Wider Nomad packages can also work well, but choose the exact APAC or SEA-Oceania variant around your stops.

Jetpac is useful for larger fixed allowances without Laos, Holafly for unlimited phone use without the Philippines, and aloSIM when its separate Hushed number offer matters. Make the country list your first filter, then compare the full package price and sharing limits.

One regional plan can cover a multi-country itinerary, but “Southeast Asia” is not a standard coverage list. Airalo Asialink, Ubigi Best Asia and Saily Asia and Oceania cover the eight countries compared here. That does not establish coverage of every other Southeast Asian country.

Does Nomad eSIM cover Cambodia and Laos?

The APAC 21-destination variant includes both. APAC 14 and SEA-Oceania exclude them. APAC 21 currently excludes Singapore, so check the variant rather than relying on the APAC name.

Does a regional eSIM need a new activation in every country?

Usually not. Once the plan is active, it connects to eligible networks as you move between included countries. Keep the correct data line and settings selected. Validity and the shared data balance continue across borders.

Does unlimited mean unlimited high-speed hotspot?

No. A plan can limit full-speed usage, hotspot sharing, or both. For example, Ubigi Best Asia’s 30-day unlimited package has 60GB at full speed before 2 Mbps, while Holafly Southeast Asia limits hotspot to 1GB a day.

Is a regional eSIM cheaper than buying separate country plans?

It depends on the route. Regional data can save money and effort across several short stops. For one country or a long stay in one destination, compare a local plan. Include every extra purchase needed for excluded countries before deciding.

Will my data reset when I enter the next country?

A fixed regional allowance does not reset. If you use 4GB of a 10GB plan in Thailand, 6GB remains for the other covered countries. Daily high-speed limits reset according to the plan’s own schedule, not at the border.
