Jetpac vs Airalo: Prices, Hotspot and Travel Perks Compared

Jetpac and Airalo both sell travel eSIMs you can install before departure, but the better deal depends on your destination, trip length and daily data use. Jetpac’s current fixed-data offers cost less in our Japan and USA examples. Europe is closer: Airalo’s EU+UK package matches Jetpac’s price for a two-week trip, while its wider Europe package costs more.

Quick Verdict

  • For 10 GB in Japan or the USA: Jetpac is cheaper at the checked public prices. Its 30-day validity also gives you more time to use the same allowance.
  • For France, Italy and Spain over 14 days: Jetpac Europe and Airalo EU+UK both cost US$22 for 10 GB. Jetpac includes 30 days; Airalo’s matching-price package includes 15 days.
  • For heavier daily use: compare the exact unlimited package. The Airalo USA and wider Europe plans checked here allow 5 GB per day before slowing down; Jetpac allows 3 GB.
  • For travel extras: Jetpac adds useful benefits, including conditional flight-delay lounge access. Registration and eligibility matter.

How We Compared the Plans

Our baseline is one traveler needing 10 GB over 14 days in Japan, the USA, or on a France–Italy–Spain route. We compare the full price of a real package that covers those needs, in USD, without referral credits, personal discounts or coupon codes.

Airalo sells 15-day options that fit this trip, while Jetpac’s suitable 10 GB options last 30 days. We use those real purchase prices first, then show a separate comparison with 30-day validity on both sides. We do not divide a package into an imaginary 14-day product.

Jetpac’s displayed public sale prices are included and identified separately from its crossed-out prices. These are storefront prices, not completed checkout totals; your final payment can depend on applicable tax, billing currency and payment charges. Unlimited plans have their own table because a daily speed threshold behaves differently from a single 10 GB allowance.

If 10 GB is only a guess, start with our travel data allowance guide. Regular video calls or laptop backups can change the right package more than a small price difference.

10 GB Prices for a Two-Week Trip

All seven options below cover at least 14 days. The three European packages cover our France–Italy–Spain itinerary, but their wider country lists differ.

Jetpac saves US$1.50 in Japan and US$3.00 in the USA. On our European route, it ties Airalo EU+UK. Comparing Jetpac only with Airalo’s US$28 wider Europe package would overstate the saving for travelers who do not need that wider coverage.

The package options are shown on the official Jetpac Japan, Jetpac USA, Airalo Japan and Airalo USA pages. Select the stated allowance and validity when comparing them.

What If You Need the Same 30-Day Validity?

For a longer trip or flexible dates, Airalo’s 30-day packages are the fairer comparison. The prices below still buy 10 GB in total.

Jetpac is cheaper in each of these matched-validity examples, including a US$2 saving against Airalo EU+UK. However, the recommendation depends on the offer remaining available. At Jetpac’s displayed list prices of US$23, US$30 and US$32, Airalo’s corresponding 30-day options would cost less.

Extra validity gives you more time, not extra data. If both packages cover your actual dates, judge the price and route first.

Europe: Compare the Route, Not Just the Country Count

Airalo has two relevant regional products: EU+UK with 28 countries and Europe with 41 countries. Jetpac’s Europe package lists 32 countries. These are distinct coverage lists, not three versions of the same product.

  • For France, Italy and Spain: include Airalo EU+UK in your comparison. The wider Airalo plan is an alternative, not a necessary upgrade for that itinerary.
  • For a route including Switzerland, Norway or Iceland: Jetpac explicitly lists those destinations. Do not assume a package labeled EU+UK covers every nearby non-EU country.
  • For Turkey or a more varied Balkan itinerary: check every stop against the exact package list. Turkey is absent from the Jetpac Europe list checked for this article; a larger headline country count alone is not enough to approve a route.

Use the country selectors on Jetpac Europe, Airalo EU+UK and Airalo Europe before paying. Our Europe eSIM guide compares a wider range of providers if neither package fits the full trip.

Unlimited Plans: The Daily Threshold Changes the Value

Both providers continue service at a lower speed after the daily high-speed allowance is used. That makes the threshold especially important if you tether a laptop or upload video.

Prices and selected-package limits checked October 1, 2026. After the stated threshold, the advertised reduced speed is up to 1 Mbps. Jetpac prices are public offers; its displayed list price is US$78 for each 15-day package.

Japan: Jetpac is US$6.01 cheaper with the same stated daily threshold. USA: Airalo costs only US$1.01 more and allows 2 GB more per day before throttling. For someone regularly using between 3 and 5 GB daily, that is a meaningful reason to choose Airalo.

Europe: Airalo EU+UK is US$2.99 cheaper than Jetpac if its coverage fits. Airalo’s wider Europe package costs US$7.01 more than Jetpac but raises the daily threshold to 5 GB.

Airalo’s unlimited fair-use policy gives a default threshold and says that package-specific limits take precedence. We therefore used the limits displayed for the selected plans, rather than applying a blanket 3 GB rule. Its 24-hour reset runs from activation, not necessarily local midnight.

A daily allowance is not a pool you can spend whenever you want: unused high-speed capacity on a quiet day does not make the next day’s threshold larger. For occasional large uploads, compare a larger fixed-data package as well.

Networks and Hotspot: Neither Brand Is a Universal Speed Winner

The local partner network is more useful than a generic promise of worldwide coverage. These were the networks listed for the Japan and USA destinations during our check:

Listed networks in Japan and the USA

DestinationJetpacAiralo
JapanKDDI and RakutenSoftBank and KDDI
USAT-MobileT-Mobile and Verizon
Provider destination listings checked October 1, 2026. Network availability is not a guarantee of signal, speed or access to every listed network at every location.

Airalo’s additional listed USA network may matter on a route where its coverage is useful. It does not prove that Airalo will be faster. Roaming arrangements, congestion, your phone and your location all affect performance; we have not measured these two services on the same route.

Can you share either connection with a laptop?

Yes, hotspot use is supported, subject to the plan, device and network. On a fixed-data package, the phone and connected devices draw from the same allowance. A 10 GB plan does not become 10 GB per device.

Jetpac advertises hotspot sharing without a separate tethering allowance. Airalo’s unlimited policy also does not impose a separate hotspot data cap or device-count limit for normal personal use. The package’s daily speed threshold still applies to the shared connection.

If Airalo works on the phone but not the laptop, its hotspot instructions explain when the hotspot APN must match the installation details. Pause cloud backups and automatic updates before tethering either service.

Jetpac’s Travel Perks: Useful, With Conditions

Flight-delay lounge access

Jetpac’s SmartDelay benefit is worth considering if you fly frequently, but it is not an unrestricted airport-lounge membership. Its published SmartDelay instructions require flight registration at least 24 hours before departure. They describe up to two registered flights per data pack, one companion, and a lounge voucher after a qualifying delay of at least one hour.

Check the registration confirmation and participating lounge options for your airport. A voucher should not be treated as guaranteed entry to any lounge you choose. Buying lounge access separately is a different service from the delay benefit.

Selected apps after your data runs out

Jetpac advertises continued access to WhatsApp chat, Uber, Grab and Google Maps navigation on eligible packs of 3 GB or more after the data allowance is exhausted. That can help with a message or the last part of a journey.

The benefit is limited to the listed functions. Do not read it as free access to every app, unlimited WhatsApp video calls, or a promise that ordinary browsing will continue after the package expires. A backup map and enough paid data remain useful.

These extras can break a close price tie. They should not outweigh missing route coverage or too little high-speed data for your normal use.

Setup, Top-Ups and Reuse

Before buying either service, check that your exact phone model supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked. Install on a stable internet connection, select the travel eSIM for mobile data, and follow its roaming and APN instructions. Keep data roaming off on your regular SIM if you do not want to use its roaming data.

Jetpac says its package starts when it connects to a supported network at the destination, with an unused-pack activation window of three months from purchase. Airalo’s destination pages also support installation before departure; review the selected package’s activation policy, especially if you are already inside its coverage area.

Will you need to install another eSIM next time?

Jetpac: its reusable eSIM is designed to accept another destination data pack, so you can keep the installed profile and buy suitable data for a later trip.

Airalo: reuse is also possible when that eSIM supports top-ups and the next destination is covered. Airalo’s reuse guidance advises checking the top-up option and keeping the profile installed. A Japan-only profile does not automatically become a global eSIM.

Buying more data, extending the current trip and reusing a profile are different things. Check the new package’s validity and activation rules rather than assuming that unused data or days carry over.

Airalo’s optional renewals

On eligible packages, Airalo can purchase a renewal when 10% of the data remains, then activate it after the current data is used. You can control the feature in the eSIM details. Check Airalo’s renewal conditions if you want a strict spending limit or prefer to buy each top-up manually.

Calls, Texts and Support

The prices in this comparison are for data. Do not assume they include a phone number, ordinary cellular calls or SMS. Internet messaging and calling apps use the data connection.

Airalo also sells separate packages with calls and texts in parts of its catalog, including a distinct option on its USA destination page and its Discover+ range. Their allowances and prices must be checked separately. Jetpac’s in-app voice service is likewise a separate feature; it does not turn the fixed-data packs above into a normal local SIM with incoming calls and SMS.

If receiving calls or verification texts is essential, use our guide to eSIMs with a phone number to choose the correct product type. Receiving messages on your existing number may require keeping your regular SIM active and checking your home carrier’s charges.

Airalo advertises 24/7 multilingual support, including a WhatsApp contact option. Jetpac provides its own app and help-center support routes. We have not measured response times for this comparison, so neither provider gets a support-quality win based on an availability claim alone.

Final Verdict: Should You Choose Jetpac or Airalo?

Choose Jetpac for the checked 10 GB Japan and USA deals. It costs less and includes 30 days. On our France–Italy–Spain itinerary, its 10 GB package also gives you 30 days for the same US$22 that buys 15 days with Airalo EU+UK. The flight-delay and selected-app benefits are useful additions if you meet their conditions.

Choose Airalo when the exact package fits your use better. Its US$39 EU+UK unlimited package undercuts Jetpac for a suitable 15-day route. In the USA, paying US$1.01 more for Airalo’s selected unlimited package raises the daily high-speed threshold from 3 GB to 5 GB. Its wider Europe unlimited package also offers 5 GB per day before slowing down.

For light or moderate use, the fixed-data deal is usually the first one to compare. For heavy daily use, check the speed threshold and the actual country list. Neither brand wins every destination, and Jetpac’s current price advantage should be reassessed if its public offers change.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Jetpac always cheaper than Airalo?

No. Jetpac is cheaper in our checked 10 GB Japan and USA examples, but Airalo EU+UK matches its two-week fixed-data cost and is cheaper for the selected 15-day unlimited package. Jetpac’s fixed-data advantage also depends on its current public offers.

Can I use Jetpac or Airalo as a hotspot?

Yes, with a compatible device, network and package. Connected devices share your data; unlimited plans still have a daily threshold before speeds drop. Hotspot support does not mean unlimited full-speed laptop use.

Does Airalo unlimited slow down after 3 GB or 5 GB?

It depends on the package. The 15-day Japan and EU+UK plans checked here display 3 GB per day; the USA and wider Europe plans display 5 GB. All four advertise a reduced speed of up to 1 Mbps after that threshold.

Can I keep the same eSIM for another trip?

Jetpac supports buying new destination packs for its reusable profile. Airalo profiles can also be reused when top-ups are available and the destination is covered. Keep a reusable profile installed and check the new package before traveling.

Do these plans include a phone number?

The fixed-data and unlimited packages priced above are data-only. Airalo’s separate calls-and-texts products and Jetpac’s in-app voice feature have different conditions; neither is included merely because you bought a data package.

Is Jetpac’s lounge access automatic if my flight is delayed?

No. SmartDelay requires advance flight registration and a qualifying delay. Check the registration deadline, passenger eligibility and participating lounge options before relying on the benefit.
